ANCORP Adds 316LN ConFlat Flanges for Magnetically Sensitive UHV Applications

WILLISTON, FL - ANCORP, a U.S. manufacturer of high vacuum components and chambers, is pleased to announce the addition of 316LN austenitic stainless-steel material to its ConFlat flange product line for UHV applications requiring low magnetic permeability. The low magnetic permeability of 316LN SS ConFlat flanges serves research and development applications in superconductors, beamlines, x-rays, spectroscopy, and lasers.

316LN CF flanges are ideal for mounting sensitive instrumentation, gauges, feedthroughs, and other vacuum components onto UHV and XHV systems.

Refined through electro slag remelting (ESR), the AISI 316LN stainless steel alloy offers greater grain homogeneity with a reduction in non-metal inclusions compared to its 316L counterpart. 316LN’s nitrogen content increases material strength while maintaining ductility into the cryogenic temperature range.

Additional benefits of using 316LN include resistance to heat hardening, irradiation damage, sensitization, and corrosion. Resistance to heat hardening of 316LN is a strong consideration for applications involving high temperatures such as bake-outs and annealing.
